One Breath

One Breath One Line

Two Breaths Two Lines

To remove the ego that hinders creativity, that is freedom.

As master Kazuaki Tanahashi says,

‘Again

Again, and

Over again

Picturing my heart.

Erasing and picturing.’

One breath to focus the mind on the task ahead is all that is required. The realisation that I am the one that is holding myself back, is life changing. Releasing guilt and allowing myself to heal, whilst saying sorry to my inner child. It is a beautiful transition to finding calm and tranquility within myself.

The ego, and having to, is the ball and chain that I have gladly removed. It is instinctively intriguing how willingly I have dragged this burden with me for so long. Nurtured it even.

Rather than burdening myself with ‘what if’ and ‘I should have done this or that’. It is the understanding that the realisation would not have reached, had I not been part of the journey that I have travelled on.

I want to live a creative life.
Then live a creative life.
I want to live a simple life.
Then live a simple life.

That sense of freedom of attachment to possessions. Allows me to free myself from the ego that hinders my creativity. Surrendering.

With one breath, I am paying attention to the action. The emotion, the smell, the shape, the movement, the colour, to allow all the senses to be present in that moment. The ensō 円相 circle has a beginning, not always a full circle, but always an ending. It is a process in that moment when one is accepting oneself, the strength, the beauty, the simplicity to be mindful. Freeing the mind to allow the movement to flow. The connection between my mind, spirit, hand, brush, ink, and paper.

I follow the brush, the brush lead, we are synchronizing.
Practicing.
